The purpose to this contest is to create the breed of three orphaned, feline type cubs that Tigerlilly and Achar found.

You can enter up to three times.

Rules:

1. They have to be an overall, mostly golden/yellow tone of fur as they live and hunt in grassy plains.

2. Their eyes are golden.

3. They have "strange markings."

4. Their front feet are paws with retractable claws.

5. They seem feline BUT (and here's the fun part for the horse people I know) they can be crossed with a horse or any other creature as long as they have the four main points, fit the story and can be ridden at full growth.

6. If you intend on adding something like wings, then have them very small as a youngster and larger as they grow older.

7. Full grown they would probably be about the size of a pony. Fast and ambush predators.

8. Horns, claws, raptor's claws, huge sabre fangs are all fine.

9. They can have spots, stripes or tattoos but no large patches.

10. I'd like to see both a kitten and adult version.

11. I want to be able to use the breed for my stories. So if you enter the contest you acknowledge that I will use these animals in my stories but give the author of the breed credit.

You can do this as a character sheet or a drawing with the points down the sides. Whatever way looks and works best for you.

If I get more than 25 entries I will up the main prize to a longer DevArt subscription.

Info about the breed:
*the younger the animal, the more furry they are.
*their necks, as they grow older, become more horse shaped. Indeed, when they run, their neck goes back and forth like a horses’
*when they are young, they are darker (the little ones prefer to hide in caves) and as they age their fur changes so they can hunt better. (The little example one is actually a bit too dark even for them)

Kitten version - Adult version to come

Battackats are a very uncommon and rarely seen species. They are born with armours and their bodies are specially adapted to combat with monsters and strong creatures to protect their territory and their group. They are born from normal felines for unknown reasons (it is believed that when a feline eats a magic fruit, it will have this special breed) and they resemble the body of a cat when they are young, they are weak and harmless during their young age. But when they start growing and become adult their body reshape into enormous ferocious beasts and they develop magical powers. The colour of their fur indicates the power they will have and the colour of the armour indicates the type of creature they will become. Their fur also develops strange markings once they start growing.

Adult version -

The difference now is that they can use magical powers, their eye colour is now golden, and they have some strange markings in their fur. They also have a super powerful roar that they use to frighten other animals and hunters to protect their territory and the animals living in it.

Uhmmmmm ... different. Very oh so very different lol

Info on Species:
You are probably wondering why the parents attacked Tigerlilly and Achar. It’s very simple. These creatures are very unintelligent, but sometimes there is a genetic mutation in these creatures and will change their IQ to increase and make these creatures change their diet by eating other species of animals or eating plants. Obviously the parents had the mutation and was trying to teach their starving young on how to hunt other prey besides themselves. Even though these creatures are dumb and are on the verge of extinction, they have unusual markings all over there body. Their markings are not for camouflage, but they are for attracting mates. During mating season (if they are lucky to live long for at least three days) they will find a mate then the female would eat the male later on.(go figure) The wings are also for attracting mates. The bigger they are, the more mates/food you will have. There is a thin, transparent membrane that holds the iridescent scales together, and yet it looks like the scales are levitating off of their backs. They are about the size of a full grown horse, young and old. From different planets where this strange feline species population is over the chart, other human like life forms consider this exotic animal as a delicacy for their out of this world sweet meat.

Personally I think they eat themselves, because they taste so good and can’t resist themselves. Hmm… to them, they must taste like sushi. Something that has to do with those crab-like legs of theirs.

About the kits. their coats allow them to blend in between the long blades of grass they hunt in, and stuff. the bits of white you see help them blend in better, if there are other surroundings. there are two different types of cat. one with wings, and one without. unfortunately they cannot be grown by want alone. its just the way nature works! wings. no wings. sorry for you.

um... oh. these cats are huge! the top of their shoulders would probably match to the bottom of an average man's ribcage. which makes them fun to ride, because your feet wont touch the ground!

Sable cats are the alpha predators of the plains. They are fast, cunning, deadly. They see for miles in the daylight, and even farther at night. All sable cats possess strange markings on their face and hind-quarters. No two cats have the same markings.

The mother is protecting her kittens.
This species is protected by a hard shell on the back and abdomen which leaves them their agility since they live from hunting. The kittens have more black fur and markings as the adults, but in the dark, they can´t be seen that good because of these markings. The adults have different markings at their legs. The older, the darker.
The adults´ shell is harder and has more spikes on it. These spikes grow there at age of two, as well as the winded horns.
Three tails are typical for them. And they became useful since human beings started building traps. If only one tail is within a loop, the Kitty Critter can bite it off and run. Like a lizard, the Kitty Critter doesn´t bleed that much when loosing a tail.
